Early Age Model Railroading
I grew up with Tyco and Bachmann HO trains. I had a 4x8 layout in my basement that I ended up cutting in to 2 sections of 4'x4' and joined together with 2 other 4' sections that were about 2 foot wide to make an L shape. I would give anything to have a picture of that thing.
The Coshocton County Fair was a big deal for a kid. I remember seeing the club layout for the first time in the fall of 1994. I then started showing up at the Coshocton Model Railroad Club in 1994 when I was 11 years old. I remember the very first thing I was fascinated with, that I had never seen before was Kadee® couplers. I remember being enthralled by them. They were mostly No5's that I remember. The sound, the slack being taken up, how easy they clicked together. I do in fact remember going home and feeling like my horn-hook couplers were garbage.
It was at the "Club" that I was introduced to a whole bunch of stuff. Wiring, construction, prototype terminology that I had never heard. I learned the basic concepts of hand-laid track. I became a Junior member at 13 in 1996.

Into Adulthood
I left before 1997 as I was already starting to become fascinated with technology and software, and stopped showing up at the club.
Life happened shortly after that! It wasn't until after marrying my lovely and amazing wife, having our first son Samson that I returned to the club in the fall of 2013. It was right after the county fair that year, and we stopped in the club. It was great seeing all the same guys that were there from back in the day.
I remember saying that evening something along the lines of "All those guys are still there, and I'm kind of settled down now, I might as well go join them". It was kind of surreal. They were still down there doing model railroading stuff... all this time. And, I had a son now. He could have a chance grow up in and around something like that, and I needed to grow more myself and really gain my hobby skills.
I rejoined as an associate member. By 2018 I became a regular member, and in 2019 was invited to be on the board as recording secretary as the position became open. Later I was voted in at the next election.
In the spring of 2024 I helped write BRAIL, which is used at the club for operations/switchlists.
In late September of 2025 during the fair, Samson and I started toying around with the idea of bringing a train show to Coshocton
And then shortly after in October 2025 Samson and I started brain storming about starting a company in order to put on a train show, and what we could possibly make or sell at train shows in general. LANSONWORKS was then created.
